The other day I dicovered something strange...

Ok, so, I was looking at a world map (which Americans hardly ever do...) and I discovered something very strange...



Smushed between Poland and Lithuania there is a little bit of land labeled Russia! I seriously thought It was a typo at first... ('cuz I'm American...) But NO! That is a piece of Russia, known as the Kaliningrad Oblast. It is a sort of leftover from the Cold War, when Russia stole annexed several countries, and became the USSR. After the fall of the USSR, the Russian Federation returned the countries that it had partitioned, but somehow this little bit of land was overlooked? More info at Wikipedia! So now the map looks like this:


(Hooray for Hetalia!!) My mochi!countries need more work...

So, since I'm on a Hetalia kick, I came up with this:

It's an itty bitty Russia, just hanging out with Liet and Poland! Frekin adorable!
That makes all the sense in the world to me! (Though, arguably, it would probaly be more like Ivan's big toe or nose or something strange like that. Or perhaps his scarf, since It's not actually connected to the rest of his body..) But no! It's way more adorable to think of this little bit of Russia as a whole diffrent entity, an adorable entity... (Really, I just wanted a good excuse to draw an adorable chibi Russia) So I give you colored!sketches of Kaliningrad Oblast:
